Journalist Musings
Welcome to my personal website, an opportunity to share some of my journalistic work and ruminations. I believe that in a digital ecosystem crowded with a cacophony of opinions, the antidote for confusion and polarization is better communication. This quest to better communicate my thoughts and to become a proponent for societal harmony has cast me in different roles: journalist, dancer, teacher, and media innovator to name a few. Meet Gretchen Porter
My name is Gretchen. I live in Louisville, Kentucky and enjoy putting movement into words. I have always been fascinated with language. The desire to better express myself has led me to learn Spanish and love the visual language of art and dance. I was awarded the Sterling Scholar award in the field of dance in 2017 and earned a degree in communications and minor in dance from the University of Utah in 2020. I love the idea that good communication can move us. It can shift our perceptions, transport our opinions, and stretch our implicit biases. As a writer with a reputation for honesty, fairness, and ingenuity I strive to captivate, inform, and yes, move people with my works.
